I’d played a small part in the Edinburgh Maker Faire which took place on the 7th April 2013, having helped select the successful applicants. The event was a great success and was very well attended by over 3000 people.
Although the OpenROV build wasn’t completed I had enough done to show it at the Edinburgh Faire.
During the run up to the maker faire I had come to realize that the original cutting of the Acrylic hadn’t gone quite as expected with some parts that were meant to be circles were more square this was particularly evident with the end caps that were too small in one dimension and too large in the other. I took the design files with me to Edinburgh and had the end caps recut by the excellent Maklab who had a lazer cutter with them

People still liked my original ROV as they could easily see how it was built and liked the idea of using plumbing parts.
